Writer and journalist Susan Mc Kay will deliver this year's Allingham Lecture on Thursday Nov. 9th at 8pm in the Abbey Arts Centre. The talk, entitled 'No Woman's Land', will focus on Susan's experience of growing up in Derry and the border, and on her career which has seen her careening back and forth across it. The title refers to the stretch of land known as No Man's Land between the Border and the Frontier as marked by the Customs' post. Susan will refer to her own writing as well as the works of other writers such as Paul Muldoon, Seamus Heaney and Moya Cannon, and artists Willie Doherty, Rita Duffy and Dermot Seymour.
Susan McKay is well known in Ireland and abroad as an award-winning journalist and writer, as well as a broadcaster and documentary maker. She is currently the director of the Glens Centre in Manorhamilton.
