Niall Mac Monagle’s talk will focus on how and why we respond to art and literature. Particular paintings by Mark Joyce, Alice Maher and Ann Quinn will be viewed and discussed, and using many examples the poem, the short story, the novel and personal writing will be explored. Again and again the students will be invited to think about particular words, sentences, cadences and examples of writing by students and well-known authors will be up for discussion.
