Noel Kelly is a fellow of The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA); President of the International Association of Art Critics - Ireland (AICA Ireland); a board member of the International Association of Art Critics – International (AICA International); a member of IKT the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art; a member of the British Society of Aesthetics; a board member of IVARO; Irish Visual Artists Rights Organisation; a member of The Institute of Directors; and a member of The Royal Dublin Society.
In 2009 Kelly was curator for the Slovenian National Pavilion in the Venice Biennale. He has curated extensively in mainland Europe and Ireland, and has been curator for Temple Bar Gallery & Studios (2005 – 2007). Kelly was cultural programme director for the Slovenian Embassy in 2004 during the Accession process with exhibitions both of Irish and Slovene artists. He is a published writer and a commentator on broadcast media. His most recent publications are: Creative Ireland: The Visual Arts 2001 – 2011, and The Social, Economic, and Fiscal Status of the Visual Artist in Ireland. He currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer/Director of Visual Artists Ireland.
