Creativity Across Borders – the theme of the 2014 Allingham Festival – highlights the unique position of Ballyshannon in the world of creativity and enterprise.
Ballyshannon sits on the borders of two provinces, and four counties. Her people live on the border of the land and the sea, at one of the westernmost seaports in Europe. The past, present, and future meet in Ballyshannon, the oldest town in Ireland.
In the 1800’s, William Allingham spent a lifetime seeking recognition for his writing – the traditional challenge for creative artists who were born outside the charmed circle of well-connected urban families. But the world has changed, and today the writers, painters, designers, animators, and storytellers of North West Ireland can publish and sell their work worldwide. The 2014 Allingham Festival highlights some of the newest opportunities for creative enterprise – and celebrates the long-standing traditions of fine Irish writing and art.
Mark your calendars for the 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th of November in Ballyshannon. You’ll be entertained, you’ll be surprised, and you’ll go home with new ideas and possibilities. We’ll look forward to seeing you at the 2014 Allingham Festival. Have a browse through our 4 days below, but before that here's a few highlights.
