With Tommy Graham

The Northwest @ War 1914-1918

As in previous years, broadcaster and historian Tommy Graham will lead a History Ireland Hedge School panel discussion at the 2014 Allingham Festival. This year’s Hedge School will reflect on Ireland's role in the First World War, with a particular focus on Ballyshannon and the Northwest. Panelists will include Australian historian Jeff Kildea (visiting fellow in UCD), Jonathan Barton (A History of Ulster), Quincey Dougan (Belfast News Letter) and local Bundoran historian Marc Geagan.

Tommy Graham, a history graduate of Trinity College, founded Historical Walking Tours of Dublin in 1986. He is a founder and editor of History Ireland, the country’s only illustrated history magazine. He currently lectures in Irish history and politics at Griffith College and formerly at Tisch NYU. A presenter of Newstalk’s ‘Talking History’, he is also a regular contributor to the station’s Moncrieff show.
