Michael Colgan, ex-Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre, will join us in the Allingham Festival this November.
The Allingham Arts Festival takes place in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, each November. The aim of the festival is to bring a wide range of arts activities to the community, celebrating local, national and international artists of many disciplines. In recent years, we have hosted poetry and writing events, concerts, documentary film screenings and discussions, lectures in design, panel discussions on the creative economy, craft workshops, art and photography exhibitions, history lectures, drama and much more. Recent guests have included Anne Enright, Theo Dorgan, Afric Mc Glinchey, Garry Keane, Jamie D'Alton, Wes Sewell and Nishaw Ali, amongst others.
The Allingham Festival Committee would like to invite submissions from all interested parties for inclusion in the Allingham Arts Festival 2017, which will take place in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, from November 9th - 12th.
We would like to hear from artists, writers, poets, musicians, digital media and creative media artists and producers, kids entertainers, educators, film-makers, producers, workshop facilitators, entrepreneurs, crafts people, theatre companies, and anyone else with a suitable event to propose! Please fill in the form on our website, providing a clear outline of the nature of the event you would like to propose.
All proposals will be discussed by the Allingham Festival Committee in March. Decisions for inclusion will be based on the nature of the event, availability of funding, and programming requirements.
We are delighted to announce that the Allingham Festival 2017 will take between Thursday the 9th and Sunday the 12th of November in Ballyshannon, County Donegal. The venue for the opening of the Allingham Festival and the Allingham Lecture on Thursday Nov. 3rd is the Abbey Arts Centre, not Dorrian's Hotel as is printed in some versions of the programme.
Join us in the Abbey Centre from 7pm for a wine reception. At 8pm, Tom Sigafoos will introduce a short preview of the weekend. After this, Olive Travers will speak about the Foróige Garden project. At 8.30, Valerie Cox will deliver the Allingham Lecture.
