We're delighted to note that Paul Lynch's novel, Prophet Song,(described by at least one Allingham Committee member as "an excellent read") has reached the shortlist for this year's Booker Prize.
Paul delivered a seminar at the Allingham festival, 2014, and was one of our judges in 2017. We look forward to welcoming him back some time in the future, hopefully as a Booker Laureate!

A huge hit at Allingham 2022 Little Top Stars return to bring the magic and wonder of circus skills such as Juggling and Diablo to the children and families of Ballyshannon. Participants are free to drop in any time and experience the sheer fun that Little Top Stars bring to their events.
Ideally, there will be an out-door event but Ballyshannon in November may not cooperate so watch out for details of venue nearer the time.

We’re delighted to announce this update to a project first seen at Allingham in 2021. In the meantime, it was also given a very special Dublin production in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Association sponsored by Brian J McMullin, solicitors.
Nets of Wonder is a creative collaboration between Olive Travers, a writer, Barry Britton, an artist, and Eamon, Travers, a musician, spear- headed and inspired by Olive’s scripts for RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Miscellany. Barry chose twelve scripts that sparked his creativity and for each he illustrated a response. Olive’s son Eamon took those same twelve scripts and composed an original piece of music to reflect the mood and theme of each.
Stories on the Wall is the stage show and exhibition which brings the resulting book to life. Readings are interwoven with Barry’s art and Eamon’s piano compositions to create a fusion of the spoken word, original art and music.. The exhibition of the original copies of Barry’s illustrations will be on view for one night only to accompany the stage show.
Nets of Wonder, published by Beehive Books, the latest manifestation of the project will be available on the night.

Children’s author Shane Hegarty will perform readings from his wildly-popular books in Ballyshannon schools during the 2023 Allingham Festival, Nov 8-12.
A former journalist and editor with The Irish Times, Shane Hegarty is the author of many books, including the “Darkmouth” series about a boy who fights mythical monsters even when he’d rather not. Hegarty is also well-known for the award-winning “Boot” series – funny, moving adventure tales about a robot who wakes in a rubbish grinder and sets off to find its owner. Future Hegarty books will be released in 2024 and 2025.
Shane Hegarty’s public events have become hugely popular, thanks to their mix of jokes, visuals, audience interaction and writing tips. He has appeared at major festivals including the Hay Festival, Listowel Writers Week, and the International Literature Festival, Dublin. During the 2023 Allingham Festival, Shane Hegarty will perform readings at Creevy National School and The Holy Family National School.
