'Under Open Skies'
Director: Ben Jones; Writer: Jason Kane; Producer: Heather Grace Mills
Running Time: 14 Minutes
'Under Open Skies' is an affectionate look back on the recent history of the GAA sport of Handball, amidst the backdrop of the creation and subsequent dereliction of the countless outdoor alleys that scatter the landscape of both urban and rural Ireland.
Produced by local man Jason Kane, the film features Ballyshannon handball players in the local Handball Alley.
This the Ballyshannon premiere of the film.
The film is built around a collection of interviews with ex-players and All Ireland champions who both remember and represent the different eras of Handball still in living memory. The narrative arc is built to bring the viewer through the different eras of handball in Ireland, delivered by interviewees through their memories and stories of the sport, from the past to present day. The contributors to the documentary who share their wonderful memories are all Ballyshannon natives, and amongst the best players the town has to offer from past and present days.
